The latest updates on the badminton schedule reveal that the Australian Open Super 500 and the Chinese Taipei Open Super 100 are the last tournaments of the talented Vietnamese player Le Duc Phat before the upcoming Olympics in July. With a prize pool of USD 420,000, the Australian Open takes place in Sydney from June 11-16, 2024. Let's delve into how the Vietnamese contingent is faring in this prestigious event.

In the men's singles category, Vietnam's Le Duc Phat, ranked 77th in the world, faced a formidable opponent in the likes of Thailand's Kantaphon Wangcharoen, ranked 51st globally, in the early rounds of the Australian Open Super 500. Nguyen Hai Dang, ranked 79th, battled against Yu Jen Chi from Chinese Taipei, ranked 38th. Meanwhile, Vu Thi Anh Thu, ranked 104th, squared off against Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani, ranked 32nd in the world.

Being the 16th tournament of the World Tour this year, the Australian Open witnessed the absence of top Indonesian players like Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, paving the way for Japan's Kodai Naraoka to be the top seed followed by Lee Zii Jia, Prannoy H. S., Chou Tien-chen, Kenta Nishimoto, and Loh Kean Yew.

In the women's singles event, the withdrawal of top-seeded player Akane Yamaguchi from Japan shifted the spotlight to her compatriot Aya Ohori as the new top seed. Other notable female seeds included Pai Yu-po, Yvonne Li, Sung Shuo-yun, Putri Kusuma Wardani, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, and Aakarshi Kashyap.

As the Vietnamese badminton players showcase their skills on the international stage at the Australian Open 2024, fans eagerly anticipate their performances against tough opponents. With Le Duc Phat, Nguyen Hai Dang, and Vu Thi Anh Thu representing Vietnam with pride, this event serves as a crucial stepping stone for them ahead of the upcoming Olympics. Stay tuned for more exhilarating badminton action!
