With a rich history of 13 editions, this competition has become a hallmark event showcasing top-notch quality and talent.

Formerly known as Vietnam Satellite and Hanoi International, the tournament earned its International Challenge status in 2008. In 2010, it rebranded as the Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge and officially adopted the name Ciputra Hanoi - Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge in 2015. Not only does this event promote Vietnam's image globally, but it also fosters training and competitive opportunities, enhancing players' skills and contributing to the growth of Vietnamese badminton.

Over the years, the CIPUTRA HANOI Vietnam International Challenge has seen both emerging talents and seasoned players grace its courts. Icons like Nguyễn Tiến Minh and Nguyễn Thùy Linh have left their mark, leading the charge for Vietnamese badminton. The tournament, an annual fixture since 2004, faced postponements due to the COVID pandemic but made a triumphant return in 2023.

Indonesia holds dominance in the tournament, clinching 24 gold medals, followed by Thailand with 13 and South Korea with 12. Vietnam proudly sits in the sixth position with 9 gold medals, notably Nguyễn Tiến Minh's 6 singles titles. The country's success stories include Vũ Thị Trang, Đỗ Tuấn Đức, Phạm Như Thảo, and Nguyễn Thùy Linh, who have claimed victory in various categories.

In 2023, the women's singles champion at the CIPUTRA HANOI Vietnam International Challenge propelled her way into the top 35 globally, showcasing Vietnam's burgeoning badminton prowess. The tournament serves as a springboard for international stars to shine, exemplified by Kento Momota's triumphant return in 2018 amid controversies.
