The CIPUTRA HANOI - YONEX SUNRISE Vietnam International Challenge 2024, one of Vietnam's prestigious badminton events, is set to take place from March 12 to 17 at the TDTT Indoor Stadium in Hanoi. With a rich history and strong international participation, this tournament serves as a platform for both local and international players to showcase their skills and compete for glory.
The tournament, formerly known as Vietnam Satellite and Hanoi International, was elevated to the International Challenge status in 2008. With a total of 310 athletes from 19 different countries and territories participating, the event promises a high level of competition. The tournament is closely monitored by 15 internationally accredited referees, ensuring fair play and adherence to standards. A prize pool of $15,000 is up for grabs, with the winners receiving $1200, runners-up $720, third-placed $300, and fourth-placed $120.
Some standout international players to watch out for include Rhusta Vito Shesar Hiren from Indonesia (ranked 76th in men's singles), Shetty Ayush from India (ranked 78th in men's singles), Sim Yu Jin (ranked 39th in women's singles), and Letsthana Karupahthevan from Malaysia (ranked 55th in women's singles).
In addition to the international stars, the Vietnamese badminton team is also gearing up for the event with 10 athletes competing across five categories. Players like Nguyễn Hải Đăng, Lê Đức Phát, Vũ Thị Anh Thư, Vũ Thị Trang, Nguyễn Đình Hoàng, Trần Đình Mạnh, Phạm Thị Khánh, Phạm Thị Diệu Ly, Phạm Văn Hải, and Thân Vân Anh will represent Vietnam on their home turf. Despite defending champion Nguyễn Thùy Linh's absence due to her participation in the prestigious All England tournament, local talents are ready to shine and gain valuable experience.
