Nguyễn Văn Mai and Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền have advanced to the round of 16 in the World Junior Badminton Championships - Eye Level Cup 2024. While Vietnam's journey in Nam Xương, China includes all five events of the tournament, unfortunately, only two representatives from Vietnam have made it to the next round.

Nguyễn Văn Mai displayed exceptional skills in the competition. In the Men's Singles event, he faced the 14th seed Simone Piccinin from Italy and triumphed with a remarkable score of 24-22, 21-15. Moreover, in the Mixed Doubles category, Nguyễn Văn Mai and Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền defeated Tankhun Setthaprasert and Pitchanard Chaiwanna from Thailand with a convincing score of 21-14, 21-11.

However, the other Vietnamese representatives faced tough challenges in the round of 32. Trần Thị Ánh was defeated 9-21, 14-21 by the 14th seed in Women's Singles, Yin Yi Qing from China. Bùi Bích Phương also couldn't proceed further as she lost to Ranithma Liyanage from Sri Lanka with a score of 13-21, 21-12, 16-21. The Women's Doubles pair of Trần Thị Ánh and Bùi Bích Phương also suffered a disappointing loss to Riska Anggraini and Salsabila Zahra Aulia from Indonesia with a score of 19-21, 22-24.

In the Men's Doubles event, Trần Quốc Khánh and Lê Minh Sơn exited the tournament after being defeated by the 15th seed pair from Chinese Taipei, Chi Ruei Chiu and Shao Hua Chiu, with scores of 13-21, 9-21. Additionally, in the Mixed Doubles event, Lê Minh Sơn and Nguyễn Vũ Ngọc Trân faced a tough challenge and were eliminated by the 7th seed pair Dhiren Ayyappan and Taabia Khan from the United Arab Emirates with scores of 17-21, 18-21.

While the journey has come to an end for most Vietnamese players in the Eye Level Cup 2024, Nguyễn Văn Mai and Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền continue to carry the hopes of their nation as they progress into the round of 16. Their performances reflect the growing talent and potential of Vietnamese badminton on the international stage.
