Vietnam's top female badminton player, Nguyen Thuy Linh, secured a historic championship title at the Vietnam Open by defeating Japan's Kaoru Sugiyama in a thrilling final match.
Nguyen Thuy Linh faced a tough challenge in the final despite comfortably winning the first set. Sugiyama rallied back impressively from being down 6-11 to take an unexpected lead at 20-19 in the second set. However, displaying great composure and determination, Nguyen Thuy Linh fought back to clinch the victory with a score of 22-20, claiming her third consecutive Vietnam Open title.
The men's singles title went to Shogo Ogawa of Japan, who surprised everyone by defeating China's Zheng Xing Wang in straight sets. The women's doubles final saw a thrilling performance from the Japanese pair of Mizuki Otake and Miyu Takahashi, who overcame the Thai duo of Tidapron Kleebyeesun and Nattamon Laisuan in a three-set nail-biter. Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil claimed the mixed doubles title after defeating Zaidan Arrafi Nabawi and Jessica Maya Rismawardani in an all-Indonesian showdown.
