The latest update on the Guwahati Masters badminton tournament revealed that Vietnamese players faced a setback against formidable opponents on December 8 at the Syed Modi International 2024.
Guwahati Masters 2024 is in its second edition and features a Super 100 event with a prize pool of $100,000. The competition took place from December 3-8 in Guwahati, Assam, India. This event is the 38th in the World Tour series and the second of three tournaments held in India, following the Syed Modi India International and preceding the Odisha Masters. Among the notable players expected to compete is Nguyen Hai Dang.
In the men's singles category, players like Priyanshu Rajawat, Sathish Karunakaran, Ayush Shetty from India, Jason Teh of Singapore, Mads Christophersen from Denmark, Wang Zhengxing from China, Cheam June Wei from Malaysia, and Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul from Thailand are seeded participants.
The women's singles category comprises of eight seeded players, with three Indian representatives, including Tanya Hemanth and Isharani Baruah, as key contenders. Notably, Malvika Bansod, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Rakshitha Ramraj withdrew from the competition. Other seeded players include Kaoru Sugiyama from Japan, Lo Sin Yan from Hong Kong, China, and Thet Htar Thuzar from Myanmar.
