The 2024 National Mixed Team Badminton Championship for the Kamito Cup kicked off today, April 16th, with thrilling matches at the Thua Thien Hue Province Sports Arena. Teams from across Vietnam showcased their skills and determination in pursuit of the coveted title.
In a remarkable turnaround, Da Nang crossed the Hai Van Pass, a majestic ancient landscape, to defeat the hosts from Hue with a tight score of 3-2 in Group B, after losing their first two matches. On the other hand, in Group A, Bac Giang swiftly secured a 4-1 victory over Hai Phong, leaving the latter struggling to find a way to bounce back, while Hanoi staged a comeback to triumph over CAND with the same score.
Following their opening defeat in Group A, Hai Phong's team, comprising Vu Minh Phuc, Nguyen The Lam Son, Le Minh Son, Pham Thi Ngoc Mai, Nguyen Thi Giang, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, are in dire need of a win to secure one of the top two spots and advance to the semifinals. However, their path is blocked by the formidable Dong Nai team at 6:00 PM on April 16, 2024, led by Vietnam’s top female player Nguyen Thuy Linh and a strong lineup including Tran Le Manh An, Nguyen Trong Duc Anh, Truong Le Khanh Nguyen, Tran Nguyen Minh Nhat, Duong Duc Vinh, Nguyen Hoang Thien Kim, Nguyen Thi Cam Tu, Ngo Ngoc Minh Chau, and Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen.
In Group B of Group A, CAND also finds themselves in a must-win situation against Ho Chi Minh City (TPHCM) after suffering a 1-4 loss to Hanoi earlier. With players like Le Duy Nam, Le Hoang Nhat Quang, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Nguyen Trung Kien, Do Thi Phuong Mai, Dao Khanh Linh, and Tran Thi Truc Chi, CAND faces a tough challenge against Nguyen Tien Minh, Nguyen Hai Dang, Nguyen Thien Loc, Nguyen Duc Hong Phuc, Tran Nguyen Chi Tung, Huynh Khanh My, Nguyen Thuy Kim Hang, Le Ngoc Van, Vu Thi Anh Thu, and Vu Thi Trang.
