Vietnamese badminton hopefuls Lê Đức Phát and Nguyễn Hải Đăng faced disappointment as they failed to advance to the finals of the international badminton tournament in Bangladesh. This setback has highlighted the competitive nature of the sport at the highest level, with other players rising to claim victory in prestigious competitions.

The men's singles crown at the Bangladesh International Challenge 2024 was clinched by the 4th seed Viren Nettasinghe from Sri Lanka, who overcame the challenge of the 3rd seed Xiaodong Sheng from Canada in a thrilling final on December 21st. Xiaodong Sheng, hailing from China and already a champion in his own right, fell short against Nettasinghe, ultimately conceding defeat in a closely contested match.

Leading up to the semi-finals, both Lê Đức Phát and Nguyễn Hải Đăng, contenders for the Cup of Victory, were eliminated from the men's singles competition. Nguyễn Hải Đăng, the 2nd seed, ranked 64th globally, suffered a narrow defeat of 18-21, 18-21 to Xiaodong Sheng. Similarly, Lê Đức Phát, ranked 60th in the world, bowed out after a 7-21, 12-21 loss to Viren Nettasinghe. Despite their early exits, both players showcased their skills and determination throughout the tournament.

The upcoming Nepal International Challenge 2024 serves as the final international badminton event for Vietnam this year, offering another opportunity for Vietnamese players to shine on the global stage.

The journey of Lê Đức Phát and Nguyễn Hải Đăng in the international badminton scene faced a setback in Bangladesh, but their dedication and talent continue to inspire the Vietnamese badminton community. As the year comes to a close, the spotlight shifts to the next challenge, providing a platform for redemption and further achievements in the sport.
