The CIPUTRA HANOI - YONEX SUNRISE Vietnam International Challenge 2024, held from March 12 to 17 at the TDTT Quận Tây Hồ Sports Complex in Hanoi, continues its legacy as a prestigious badminton event in Vietnam.
With a total of 310 players from 19 countries and territories participating, the tournament has established itself as a top-tier competition, overseen by 15 internationally accredited referees. The event offers a prize pool of $15,000, with the champion earning $1200, the runner-up $720, third place $300, and fourth place $120.
Key international players to watch include Rhusta Vito Shesar Hiren from Indonesia (World No. 76 in men's singles), Shetty Ayush from India (World No. 78 in men's singles), Sim Yu Jin (World No. 39 in women's singles), and Letsthana Karupahthevan from Malaysia (World No. 55 in women's singles).
The tournament serves as a platform for Vietnamese athletes to gain valuable experience and points, preparing them for higher-level competitions. The Vietnamese badminton team comprises 10 athletes competing across five categories, including Nguyễn Hải Đăng and Lê Đức Phát in men's singles, Vũ Thị Anh Thư in women's singles, Nguyễn Đình Hoàng/Trần Đình Mạnh in men's doubles, and Phạm Thị Khánh/Phạm Thị Diệu Ly as well as Phạm Văn Hải/Thân Vân Anh in women's and mixed doubles, respectively.
Unfortunately, defending women's singles champion Nguyễn Thùy Linh is unable to defend her title as she competes in the prestigious All England Super 1000 event simultaneously.
