The Korea Masters 2024 badminton tournament, the 16th edition of the Super 300 event with a prize pool of $210,000, is currently underway from November 5-10 in Iksan, South Korea. Notably, the absence of Nguyen Thuy Linh has shifted the focus to Vietnam's representative, Nguyen Hai Dang, as he competes against some top-ranked players.
Ranked 69th in the world, Nguyen Hai Dang faced a tough challenge in the opening round of the men's singles against India's Kiran George, who is ranked 40th globally. The draw also placed Dang in the same bracket as the third seed from Chinese Taipei, Chi Yu-jen, a formidable player with recent titles at prestigious events like the Taipei Open Super 300 and Malaysia Masters Super 100 in 2024.
The men's singles at the Korea Masters 2024 features a competitive field with notable players like Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Kantaphon Wangcharoen, and Taiwan's Lee Chia-hao, Su Li-yang, and the Japanese contender Takuma Obayashi, along with the Singaporean player Jason Teh.
Vietnam's representation at the Korea Masters 2024 through Nguyen Hai Dang showcases the country's talent on the global badminton stage. With impressive performances and challenging matchups, Dang's campaign at the tournament highlights the growing prowess of Vietnamese players in international competitions.
