Despite some setbacks, the Vietnamese contingent has had a successful day on the courts in Taiwan.

Vũ Thị Trang displayed her prowess on the badminton court by defeating her Indonesian opponent, Bilqis Prasista, with a scoreline of 21-16, 21-18 in the women's singles round of 32 match. The Northern Vietnam-born player, now based in Ho Chi Minh City, staged a remarkable comeback by scoring seven out of the last eight points in the first game to turn the tide from 14-15 to 21-16. She then continued her dominance by securing the final seven points of the second game from 14-18 to 21-18.

In the round of 16, Vũ Thị Trang, currently ranked 168th in the world, will face off against Hsiang Ti Lin from Taiwan, who is ranked 68th. Another Vietnamese pair, Phạm Thị Diệu Ly and Phạm Thị Khánh, also impressed by defeating the strong Taiwanese duo Su Yu Chen and Jiang Yi-Hua in a thrilling three-game match to advance to the round of 16.

In the men's doubles category, Trần Đình Mạnh and Nguyễn Đình Hoàng have set up a clash with the Taiwanese pair Cheng Kuan Chen and Sheng Fa Chen in the round of 16 after a smooth victory in the opening round.

Despite the disappointing loss of Phạm Văn Hải and Thân Vân Anh in the mixed doubles, the overall performance of the Vietnamese badminton players at the Kaohsiung Masters 2024 has been commendable and showcases their potential on the international stage.
