Vietnamese Badminton Trio Fails to Advance in Ruichang China Masters 2024 Qualifiers

In the ongoing Ruichang China Masters 2024 badminton tournament, the Vietnamese players faced tough competition in the qualifiers. While some put up a good fight, they ultimately could not make it through to the main round.

During the qualifiers, Lê Ngọc Vân, ranked 304th in the world, suffered a defeat of 10-21, 12-21 against Wu Wei of China, who has yet to enter the world rankings in the women's singles category. On the men's side, Bùi Thành Đạt, ranked 800th globally, managed to defeat the 5th seed from Brunei, Kah Kit Kan, with scores of 21-10, 21-17 in the round of 32. However, he later succumbed to Nachakorn Pusri from Thailand, ranked 386th in the world, with a score of 17-21, 19-21. The iconic Vietnamese badminton player Nguyễn Tiến Minh also exited the tournament in the round of 16 after being defeated 19-21, 12-21 by Liu Ze Qing of China, who is also not yet ranked in the global standings. Prior to his elimination, Nguyễn Tiến Minh had eliminated the 2nd seed from Malaysia, Tan Zheng Tseng, ranked 338th globally, with a score of 21-16, 21-15.

In the main round, Nguyễn Hải Đăng, ranked 82nd in the world and seeded 5th, faced off against Liang Liu from China, ranked 196th globally. Vũ Thị Trang, ranked 218th in the world, competed against Nutnalin Rattanapanuwong from Thailand, ranked 247th in the global standings. Meanwhile, Vũ Thị Anh Thư, ranked 107th globally, clashed with Peng Yu Wei from Taiwan, ranked 251st in the world.

Although the Vietnamese badminton players put up a valiant effort in the Ruichang China Masters 2024 qualifiers, they were unable to progress to the main rounds. Despite the challenges faced, their performances showcased their resilience and determination in the competitive arena.
