The highly anticipated Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2024, a Super 500 badminton tournament, is set to take place from January 23-28 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Offering a total prize money of $420,000 (equivalent to 10.3 billion Vietnamese Dong), this competition is part of the World Tour and the third event of the year. Notably, former world number one Kento Momota will make his comeback, starting from the qualifying rounds.

In the women's singles category, the top three seed players, Chen Yu Fei (China), Akane Yamaguchi (Japan), and Carolina Marín (Spain), along with the number one ranked An Se Young (South Korea), have all withdrawn from the tournament due to various reasons. Furthermore, An Se Young suffered an injury and had to retire from the India Open. This fortunate turn of events has allowed Nguyen Thuy Linh to avoid facing the formidable Chen Yu Fei, the reigning Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020.

However, the draw has paired Nguyen Thuy Linh against another Chinese player, Gao Fang Jie, who is currently ranked 33rd in the world. Though not exceptionally outstanding, Gao Fang Jie poses a genuine threat. Additionally, the women's singles category in Indonesia boasts renowned players such as the Chinese trio, He Bingjiao, Han Yue, and Wang Zhiyi, along with Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Beiwen Zhang from the United States. Amongst these top five contenders, Nguyen Thuy Linh has never lost to any of the Chinese representatives.

In the men's singles category, world number one Viktor Axelsen from Denmark will not be participating. However, the tournament still features a strong seed group, including China's Shi Yuqi, the reigning champion of the India Open 2024, as well as his compatriot Li Shifeng, the defending All England champion. Other notable contenders include Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand, the reigning world champion, Anders Antonsen from Denmark, the reigning Malaysia Open champion, and the Indonesian duo Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie. They will be joined by Japanese star Kodai Naraoka and the talented Indian player Prannoy H. S.

The Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2024 promises to be an exhilarating badminton event, with both women's and men's singles categories showcasing the world's top talents. Fans can eagerly anticipate intense matches and unexpected outcomes as the tournament progresses.
