The Ciputra Hanoi International Badminton Tournament, sponsored by Yonex Sunrise, is set to once again captivate fans with intense matches as 310 athletes from 19 countries compete at the Tây Hồ Stadium from March 12 to 17, 2024.
Having solidified its reputation over 13 editions, the Ciputra Hanoi International Badminton Tournament is now a part of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) tournament circuit, boasting high standards and quality matches. With 15 international standard referees overseeing the competition, the event ensures fair play and exciting matchups.
In 2024, 10 Vietnamese athletes, including world-ranked players like Lê Đức Phát, Nguyễn Hải Đăng, Vũ Thị Anh Thư, and Vũ Thị Trang, will face tough competition from players from South Korea, Malaysia, India, and other nations for a prize pool totaling $15,000. Winners stand to take home significant cash prizes, with the champion receiving $1200.
Among the international contenders are top-ranked players such as Rhusta Vito Shesar Hiren from Indonesia (ranked 76th in men's singles), Shetty Ayush from India (ranked 78th in men's singles), Sim Yu Jin (ranked 39th in women's singles), and Letsthana Karupahthevan from Malaysia (ranked 55th in women's singles).
With the tournament contributing points to the BWF and Badminton Asia rankings, athletes must meet specific ranking criteria to participate. Despite over 600 athletes from 29 countries registering, only 310 from 19 countries met the requirements, underscoring the prestige and appeal of the Ciputra Hanoi International Badminton Tournament among global players.
The success of the event has inspired the Vietnam Badminton Federation to plan the Vietnam International Series tournament, further providing opportunities for Vietnamese players to test their skills against international competitors.
