The recently concluded Youth National Badminton Tournament 2024 - DONEX Trophy witnessed an impressive display of talent and sportsmanship. Hosted by Ho Chi Minh City, the event showcased the dedication and skill of young badminton players across Vietnam. The tournament, supported by Donex Sport, aimed at promoting sustainable development and community engagement in sports, fostering a platform for young athletes to excel and showcase their abilities.
Ho Chi Minh City emerged as the overall champion of the tournament, setting several records with outstanding performances. The host city's players excelled in various categories, securing a total of 7 gold medals. Notable achievements included Nguyen Hoang Tan Phat, Nguyen Minh Cuong, and Pham Ngoc Minh clinching gold in the boys' singles category, while Nguyen Ngoc Que Anh and Nguyen Thuy Kim Hang shone in the girls’ singles category. Impressive duos such as Ngo Le Khoi Nguyen / Dang Lam Minh Khang and Nguyen Thuy Kim Hang / Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also claimed gold medals.
In other categories, young talents showcased their abilities, with athletes from different provinces and regions competing fiercely. Medalists included Dương Quang Bảo, Phạm Quang An, Cao Gia Hân, Nguyễn Đình Tâm, Phạm Hoàng Bảo Ngọc, and many more, highlighting the depth of talent in youth badminton.
The event, held at the TDTT Phu Tho Sports Complex in Ho Chi Minh City from June 25 to June 30, brought together 682 athletes from 36 provinces and regions, marking a historic turnout for the tournament. With 857 matches played, the tournament set new records, reflecting the rapid growth and popularity of badminton in Vietnam.
